Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how PLACEBO ONE ("PLACEBO ONE," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit placeboapparel.com (the "Site"), including The Pharmacist, the shop, and checkout. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
01 — Information We Collect
Information you give us directly:
- • Your email address, when you verify it to access The Pharmacist.
- • Your membership tier and subscription status, once you choose a Pharmacist membership plan — stored so the Site knows what you have access to. (See "Pharmacist Membership" below for what actually happens with billing today.)
- • Your name, email address, and shipping address, and any message you include, if you go through checkout. (See "Preorders & Payment" below for what actually happens with this information today.)
- • Your name, email address, and message, if you contact us through the Investors page.
Information collected automatically:
- • A cart stored in your browser's local storage, so items you add stay in your cart between visits — this stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- • A signed session cookie, set only after you verify your email, so you don't have to re-verify every visit to The Pharmacist.
- • Standard technical information our hosting and email providers collect automatically (like IP address and browser type), used only for security and for actually delivering the Site and its emails to you.
02 — How We Use Information
- • To send your one-time verification code and confirm your email address.
- • To activate and manage your Pharmacist membership tier.
- • To operate your shopping cart and process your preorder.
- • To respond to messages you send us.
- • To keep the Site secure and working correctly.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
03 — Cookies & Local Storage
The Site uses two different mechanisms, and they do different things:
- • Local storage (your cart): items you add to your cart are saved directly in your browser, not on our servers. Clearing your browser data will clear your cart.
- • Session cookies (The Pharmacist): after you verify your email, we set an httpOnly cookie so the Site can confirm you're signed in on future visits without asking again. This cookie only contains a signed token proving you verified an email address — it does not contain your email in plain text, and it expires automatically.
You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings; doing so will sign you out of The Pharmacist and clear your cart.
04 — Third-Party Service Providers
- • Resend, to deliver the verification email for The Pharmacist.
- • Our hosting provider, to serve the Site.
- • Once real payment processing is connected, a payment processor (for example, Stripe) will handle payment information directly — we do not, and will not, store your card details ourselves.
05 — Preorders & Payment
As of this policy's last-updated date above, checkout does not process real payments — no card or payment information is currently collected or charged, and this is stated plainly on the checkout page itself. Any name, address, or email you enter at checkout is handled the same as other information under this policy. Once real payment processing is connected, this policy will be updated (reflected in the "Last updated" date above) before that changes.
06 — Pharmacist Membership
As of this policy's last-updated date above, Pharmacist membership activation, tier switching, and cancellation are simulated for development purposes only — no payment is currently collected or charged for any membership tier, and this is stated plainly on the membership page itself. We store your chosen tier and subscription status so the Site can determine what member content to show you. Once real subscription billing is connected, a payment processor (for example, Stripe) will handle your payment information directly, and this policy will be updated first.
07 — Data Retention
We keep the information above only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law, and delete or anonymize it when it's no longer needed for those purposes.
08 — Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
09 — Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10 — Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
11 — Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
